The Vanuatu Bureau of Statistics (VBoS) within the Ministry of Finance and Economic Management is seeking to recruit a qualified Consultant for the “Vanuatu Data Science Driving Innovation in Climate Change and Natural Disasters” Project. The position is on a Contractual Basis for a period of 15 Months.
The purpose of this project is to significantly enhance the capacity of staff to utilise machine learning (ML) models for the analysis of satellite imagery, focusing on monitoring the gradual, slow-moving impacts of climate change including sea level rise, coastal erosion, extreme weather events, temperature and precipitation patterns, vegetation and land use changes, ocean temperature, drought and water resources, mangrove & reef health, and inundation and flooding.
The position is open to both local and overseas based Consultants. Interested Individuals and Organisations are asked to submit their Application and a Concept Note based on the Terms of Reference (TOR) of this position to highlight their programme of building the
capacity of the Vanuatu Bureau of Statistics in Machine Learning and Satellite Imagery for Climate Change Monitoring and Disaster Preparedness. Both males and females are encouraged to apply.
