VNAC 2022
VNAC 2022
A Glimpse into the VNAC's Objectives
At the heart of the VNAC lies a profound objective: to gather a holistic spectrum of socio-economic data encompassing Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries, and Forestry. This meticulously collected data serves as a cornerstone for governmental planning, monitoring, and evaluation. By establishing baseline data for the primary sector's structure, the census bolsters national development agendas and charts progress towards pivotal national and global targets, including the National Sustainable Development Plan (NSDP) and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Beyond these goals, the VNAC is dedicated to enhancing the technical prowess of the National Statistics Office through strategic staff training, facilitating the seamless dissemination of results to diverse stakeholders, and leveraging the proven sampling frameworks from the 2020 National Population and Housing Census (NPHC) to refine agriculture surveys. This multifaceted approach culminates in the development of a sustainable food and agricultural statistical system, paving the way for well-informed policy decisions that foster amplified agricultural production and an elevated standard of living for all.
Project Funding and Focus Areas
The 2022 VNAC's remarkable journey is backed by core funding from the European Union Funds (EDF11) and further bolstered by the Government of Vanuatu's (GoV) financial contribution. The total investment of approximately VT 200,000,000 underscores the significance of this initiative in driving Vanuatu's socio-economic advancement.
With a focus on eight key areas, including the generation of comprehensive statistical information, insights into the primary sector, and the fortification of technical capabilities, the VNAC embraces its role as a beacon of progress. Monitoring progress towards development goals, disseminating up-to-date results, and utilizing a meticulous sampling framework from the 2020 NPHC for precise agricultural surveys are integral facets of this endeavor. Ultimately, the VNAC's primary aspiration is to establish a sustainable agricultural statistical system that empowers policy makers with the knowledge required to usher in a new era of productivity and prosperity.
